Sustainable Green Lake has some exciting news to share! A final street painting design for Stone Avenue North, between north 80th Street and 81st Street, has been selected by the project team (See below) and approved by the City of Seattle Department of Transportation. With funds from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods to purchase supplies, we are now preparing to paint the street.
The Stone Avenue North street painting party will be held:
Sunday, September 26th, 12pm to 5pm.
Light refreshments and educational activities.
All community members are invited to attend and join in the painting festivities.
We recieved a lot of community input about the design. Three Seattle artists submitted design ideas in fall 2009, which we put out to the community for input- and got feedback from around 300 people, including neighbors, Sustainable Green Lake members, Bethany Community church members, and Bagley Elementary School families. This input guided the final design, which includes community-preferred elements like water imagery, simple and bright colors, bees (for Bagley), and a look that will appeal across a broad spectrum of community members and during various seasons and events. We hope you join us for painting day, and that you enjoy this piece of community art for years to come.
